2K Showcase
2K Showcase lets players relive the career of Stone Cold Steve Austin, match-by-match. Players will experience first-hand the birth of Austin 3:16 at King of the Ring 1996 and follow Stone Cold’s path through his final match at WrestleMania XIX in 2003. Though you have to win each match in order to advance, matches feature optional objectives to complete to earn in-game content including new Superstars, Managers, and alternate attires. Bonus matches featuring key events from Austin’s time in WCW and ECW await those skilled enough to unlock them.
Career Mode
WWE 2K16’s MyCAREER Mode lets players create a custom Superstar and guide them through a career in the WWE. Winning matches allows you to upgrade your Superstar’s attributes, abilities, and skills, while you’re able to spend your salary on other in-game items. You can create your own rivalries against other WWE superstars, as well as choose other matches to run in on. The run-ins will let you establish/cement rivalries, as well as gain new tag team partners. As you pass through the WWE ranks from NXT to Raw (with the ultimate goal of getting into the WWE Hall of Fame), you’ll not only go up against top WWE Superstars, but you’ll also be able to square off against those custom characters created by your friends. You’ll be able to shape your character’s personality via post-match interviews that factor your answers into Face/Heel traits. Finally, you’ll have encounters with The Authority; your storyline will vary, based on whether or not you choose to cooperate with The Authority’s directives.
Universe Mode
A top-down management mode, WWE Universe allows you to run the WWE as you see fit. Book matches, assign Superstars and Divas to shows and pay-per-views, create rivalries and alliances or watch them transpire on their own. For the first time, characters now have personality traits that can affect their decisions in gameplay and storylines. And with the new status effect system, the outcomes of these matches and stories can result in temporary boosts or penalties for those involved.
